The MEGHALAYA STATE ELECTRICITY BOARD has last revised its tariff with effect from 1st October, 2004 for all categories of consumers of Meghalaya. However, with rising cost of operation and maintenance, increase in pay and allowances (which is an All India phenomenon), loans repayment, interest payment, discharging of Bonds etc., the Board is facing acute financial hardship to sustain itself and to continue its services. Obviously, revision of tariff has become absolutely necessary to improve its financial health.

Accordingly, in exercise of the power conferred by Section 49 of the Electricity (Supply) Act, 1948, the MEGHALAYA STATE ELECTRICITY BOARD do hereby notify the following revised tariff to come into force in all areas of the supply by MeSEB within the State of Meghalaya effective from the first meter reading date on or after 1st November, 2005 and for EHT Category of consumers with effect from 1st January, 2006.
